New project:

Big Sur Coastal Trail Master Plan, Coastal Conservancy

LandPeople has been selected by the California State Coastal Conservancy to prepare a Master Plan for a 75 mile portion of the California Coastal Trail from the Carmel River in Monterey County, south to San Carpoforo Creek in San Luis Obispo County. A primary focus of the project is to work with the local Big Sur community to address their concerns and benefit from their knowledge regarding the best alignment and configuration for the trail. LandPeople will work with a Steering Committee including local community members and federal, state and county agencies that own land and provide trails and public access on the Big Sur coast. The trail objectives are to create a bicycle route along or paralleling Highway 1 and a hiking trail separated from Highway 1, while protecting all scenic, environmental, and community resources.
